Verifying Overtravel Limit Protection and Proximity Sensor Installation – F Series Machines

Overview:

The Overtravel Limit Protection feature works to safeguard both the machine and test specimens by preventing the compression ram from overextending. To ensure this protection operates effectively, it is essential to properly configure the software settings and correctly install the proximity sensor.

Verify Overtravel Limit Setting in Machine Software

To ensure the Overtravel Limit feature is active:

• Navigate to the Machine Setup screen via the touchscreen interface.

• Locate the setting labeled “Overtravel Limit?”

• Ensure the checkbox is checked (overtravel enabled).

Inspect Proximity Sensor Placement

The proximity sensor (Forney Part #: TM-6324-05 / PROX SWITCH) plays a key role in triggering the Overtravel Limit stop. 

Depending on the F Series machine you own, there are different locations where the limit switch will be located. Choose your machine to see details of  limit switch locations below:

• F-250-VFD/F-1100KN-VFD

• F-325-VFD/F-1500KN-VFD

• F-450-VFD/F-2000KN-VFD

• F-250-VFD/F-1100KN-VFD: The limit switch will be located above the pump attached to a blue bracket, as shown in the photo below. 
  

• F-325-VFD/F-1500KN-VFD: The limit switch will be located on the left-side of the frame on a black bracket. 
  

• F-450-VFD/F-2000KN-VFD: The limit switch will be located on the left-side of the frame on a black bracket.
