How to Set a Custom Email Subject and File Name When Sharing Reports

When distributing reports through the Approval workflow in ForneyTools, you can customize both the email subject line and the report file name. This gives you more control over how reports are labeled and presented to your recipients.

Notes: 

  • These changes are tied to the specific sample. Updating the file name or subject line for one sample will not affect others.

  • The saved subject line and file name will automatically appear the next time you send the report for that sample.

  • Custom subject line and file name options only appear when a report has been Created and is being either Submitted for Approval or Approved. Distribution must also be enabled before the fields will appear.

How to Customize the Email Subject Line

  1. Create a Report for Approval using the Create button in the Sample Report section of the Report Generator.

  2. Once the report is created, select Submit for Approval.

  3. In the Report Viewer window, set the Report Distribution Group to Enabled to display the email and file name options.
  4. In the Report Viewer, locate the Email Subject field.

  5. Select the pencil button to edit the file name.

  6. Enter your preferred email subject and click Save.

How to Customize the Report File Name

  1. Create a Report for Approval using the Create button in the Sample Report section of the Report Generator.

  2. Once the report is created, select Submit for Approval.

  3. In the Report Viewer window, set the Report Distribution Group to Enabled to display the email and file name options.
  4. In the Report Viewer, locate the Attachment File Name field.

  5. Select the pencil button to edit the file name.
