How do I remove the Work Platen from my machine?

The work platen may be removed for maintenance or replacement.

  1. Remove the Side Debris Guards and Tie Bars

Begin by removing the socket head button screws securing the side debris guards and tie bars. Once these components are removed, you will be able to lift the wear plate off the work platen.

  2. Remove the Work Platen

There is a single socket head cap screw securing the work platen to the piston. If you have access to an impact gun or impact wrench, you may be able to loosen this screw without removing the piston or bellows.

    • If successful, simply remove the screw, lift off the existing platen, install the new one, and re-tighten the socket head cap screw using the impact tool.

    • Then, reverse the disassembly steps to complete reassembly.

  3. If the Screw Cannot Be Loosened in Place

If the socket head cap screw cannot be freed while the piston and bellows are still in place, you will need to remove both components to access and remove the platen.

Tip: This would also be an ideal time to inspect and replace the seals, if necessary.
