How Do I Repack and Ship a Compression Testing Machine to Forney

Proper packing helps protect your machine from damage in transit. Use a sturdy skid, secure the machine with bolts, and pack detachable components so they cannot shift during shipping.

Materials you’ll need

• A heavy-duty skid built with ¾-inch boards and minimal gaps. A standard-duty skid may fail during shipment.
• ½-inch bolts, nuts, and washers. The quantity depends on the machine.
• 1×4 boards to reinforce the areas where the machine is bolted to the skid.
• 2×4 boards to brace the pump.
• Shrink wrap or banding materials.

Prepare the machine

1. Remove the digital control unit. Detach it and pack it separately with protective materials.
2. Remove detachable accessories. Pack loose items, such as the breaking head, securely in a separate box.
3. Drain the hydraulic oil. Drain the tank to prevent leaks during shipping.
4. Center the machine on the skid before securing it.

Bolt a machine with a stand to the skid

1. Remove the side panels, if needed, to reach the mounting holes in the base.
2. Position the 1×4 support boards beneath the skid, running perpendicular to the skid boards and aligned with the machine’s mounting holes.
3. Drill through the four corner mounting holes. Insert the bolts upward from beneath the skid, with a washer at each end of each bolt. Tighten the nuts securely from above.
4. Build a rigid support beneath the pump using 2×4 boards. This prevents the pump from bouncing and sustaining impact damage during shipment.

Finish packing

1. Place the packed digital control unit and accessories inside the machine frame or secure them within the skid’s footprint.
2. Wrap the machine to keep doors and panels closed. Make sure the packed components cannot shift or fall out during transit.
