ForneyVault® Glossary

A

API: An application programming interface (API) is a way for two or more computer programs to communicate with each other.

AASHTOWare Project: The complete, enterprise-wide software solution developed by AASHTO for managing an agency’s construction program.

Admixture: Admixtures are ingredients that are added to the concrete batch immediately before or during mixing. 

Air Entrainment Method: Manner in which the air entrainment was measured. 

Aurigo: Aurigo offers industry-leading COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) capital project and infrastructure software for capital project stakeholders, including public sector agencies, and large facility owners.

Binni: A fully integrated system for construction teams to collaborate throughout the planning, tracking, and reporting of concrete pours.

Break type: By default, ForneyVault has ASTM Break types that can be edited or updated as needed.

Chain of Custody: Sample tracking solution to track and account for all samples in ForneyVault. 

CMS: Concrete Management Software

CMT: Construction Materials Testing 

Command Alkon: Command Alkon brings together technology and people to support the heavy building materials community.

Concrete Mix: Ability to add concrete mix to FV enabling the ability to track mix performance. 

Correction Factor: ASTM defined correction for specimen size where the length-to-diameter ratio is less than 2:1. 

Cumulative Placement Sample: Cumulative number of a sample captured for a placement. 

Cure Conditions: Description of the environment the specimens are placed for curing.

Defect types: Irregularities in the specimen which need to be noted prior to testing. 

Delivery Method: Manner in which the concrete is delivered as part of the placement. 

Design Age: Age the concrete is to reach its specified strength. 

Discard Dashboard: ForneyLink tool to easily remove unneeded specimens in ForneyVault. 

Drawing Spec: Drawing used to identify the sample location.

eFieldData: eFieldDATA is a subscription-based software solution that enables geotechnical engineers to collect and manage data in real time, making it ideal for CMT (using ASTM standards), field inspections, and lab management. Users can log in from any computer or device.


ElmTree System: Elmtree is a complete construction materials testing software and engineering laboratory management software.

Ends Prep: Specimen end preparation used as per ASTM specification.

Entrained air Spec: Incorporated air specification of a given Concrete mix. ForneyVault uses the middle of the range as the specified value. 

Entrained Air Tolerance: Allowable variance from the specified entrained air spec. 

Exact: EXACT is a technology company that creates data-driven solutions for concrete construction. Constructors and precasters of all types and sizes use our hardware and software to build their projects faster, safer, and more sustainable.

Expected Strength: Concrete sample's designated strength at a given age.

ForneyTools: An essential secure online user interface that allows access to analyze and report on ForneyVault data.

ForneyVault: Concrete Management Software that integrates testing machines, third-party software, and other project systems to eliminate manual errors, increase productivity and produce unquestionable results.

Idencia: Product suite to provide technology that enables the collection and management of data not only during production but throughout the complete life cycle of an infrastructure asset, from production through the build and operating phases.

J-Ring: A tool to measure the passability of SCC during a slump flow test. ForneyVault allows you to track the use of J-rings in your samples.

LIMS: Laboratory Information Management System. Can be connected to ForneyVault via its API. 

Load: Force placed on a specimen during testing. 

Location Sketch Provided: Drawing that provides a visual description of the sample location. ForneyVault allows you to track the use of samples.

Material Type: Used to identify special materials (cores, grout, etc.) using standard specimen types (cylinders, cubes, etc.) where additional analysis and/or reporting is needed.

Max Water/Cement Ratio: Maximum water-to-cement ratio specified for a given concrete mix. ForneyVault allows you to compare the actual ratio to the max specified ratio in the samples. 

MetaField: Software for field inspection and lab testing. The solution offers a streamlined and connected process from project setup and scheduling, to mobile data collection and report submission.

Placement: ForneyVault allows the ability to track multiple samples in a single mass concrete distribution.

Placement Description: Description of the specific placement being placed (i.e. Basement, stairs, pool, etc.).

Placement Total: Total concrete being placed.

Placement Type: Type of construction being placed (i.e. slab on grade, column, wall, etc). 
Preload: Load applied to the specimen prior to achieving the specified ramp rate.

Project Locations: 2nd level of the ForneyVault hierarchy designating where the sample originated. 

Projects: ForneyVault's top level of the hierarchy that groups your organization's work into projects for easy tracking.

Quadrel: An enterprise software suite for concrete and aggregate management that span technical, operational, and business needs.

Ramp Rate: Specified speed for testing specimens.  Could be load/time, stress/time, distance/time, etc.

Report Approval Workflow: ForneyVault's process to track and present testing data to stakeholders of an organization. It includes the ability to add an electronic signature to a report upon approval.

Sample interval: How often a sample is to be collected. 

Sample number: Key identifier used by ForneyVault to track samples. 

Sampled From: The delivery method from which the sample is taken - could be different from the delivery method.

Samples: A representative example of the material to be tested, and the third level of the ForneyVault hierarchy.

SAP: SAP software and technologies deliver deep value to customers by providing the tools to harness the power of the data flowing through their systems.

SCC: Self-Consolidating Concrete, which is designed to flow through a mold or form and around obstructions like rebar.

Sets: The fourth level of the ForneyVault hierarchy where specimens in a ForneyVault sample are grouped by their age to break. 

Site super Notified: Upon inspection of the placement formwork and rebar structure, ForneyVault allows you to indicate that you notified the site supervisor of a completed inspection.

Slump Spec: Slump specification of a given Concrete mix. ForneyVault uses the middle of the range as the specified value. 

Slump Tolerance: Allowable variance from the specified slump.

Smart Checks: Built-in evaluation of testing machine specimens and test parameters to prevent mistakes.

Specimens: Piece cast from a sample with which ForneyVault tracks testing data.

Stonemont: Stonemont Solutions develops quality control, plant flow modeling, and mix design software for the construction materials industry.

Stress: Force applied to a cross-sectional area of a specimen to determine its strength.

Supplier: The manufacturer that provides the concrete with a specific mix design.

T50: Measure of the viscosity of SCC according to ASTM C1611.

Total Samples: The placement total / by sample interval

Uncountable: The Uncountable Platform is an Enterprise-class cloud solution for modern global R&D organizations.

Unit Weight: The weight of concrete per unit volume recorded as part of the sample data.

Unit Weight Min: Minimum unit weight specified for a given concrete mix. ForneyVault allows you to compare the actual unit weight to the minimum specified unit weight in the samples.

VFD: Variable Frequency Drive that controls the hydraulic pump in Forney Automatic machines.

VSI: Visual Stability Index, a visual evaluation of static segregation in SCC. 

W

Water/Cement Ratio: Mass of water to mass of concrete that is recorded in the sample data.

Wet Density: Weight of concrete per unit volume recorded as part of the sample data.
