This article outlines the installation of the CA-0398 Forney Retropak and the associated software upgrade of the TA-1258 touchscreen.

Installing the CA-0398 Forney RetroPak®

When to Use
Use this procedure when installing a CA-0398 Forney RetroPak on a system that already includes a TA-1258 Touchscreen.

Overview

The key difference: the CA-0398 does not include a new Forney touchscreen. Instead, it is designed to reuse your existing TA-1258 touchscreen.

Touchscreen Upgrade Required
To operate with the CA-0398 RetroPak, your TA-1258 touchscreen must be reprogrammed. This upgrade enables the system to function automatically with the RetroPak hardware.

To complete the upgrade:

1. Connect the TA-1258 touchscreen to the internet.

2. Schedule a remote software upgrade with Forney Technical Support.

Scheduling & Timing

• Most touchscreen upgrades can be scheduled within 1–2 business days.

• Upgrade duration varies depending on the age of the touchscreen.

  • Touchscreens older than 5 years may take more than one day to complete.

Optional Recommendation
While not required, we recommend connecting the touchscreen to the CA-0398 Forney RetroPak during the upgrade. This allows Forney Support to verify proper operation of electronics during the software update.

Important Notes

• This procedure applies only to installations using the CA-0398 Forney RetroPak with an existing TA-1258 touchscreen.

• The touchscreen must be connected to the internet and upgraded remotely by Forney Support.
